Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) launched its own constituent MBBS program in August 2001. The school has infrastructure and physical facilities at two locations: Basic sciences building at a hilltop at Chaukot, Panauti Municipality-1 and the main teaching hospital is situated at Dhulikhel. Both locations are in close access to the Kathmandu University Complex. Basic Sciences department has 7 various departments with required number of laboratories, lecture halls (including PBL class rooms), audio visual facilities (media tech), and library with 24 hour internet facility.

Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences is recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and the degree awarded by the Kathmandu university is recognized by MCI.

Candidates seeking MBBS admission in Nepal Medical College i.e. Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences must have completed 10+2 years of education or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and not less than 50% of marks in each subject of Physics, Chemistry and, Biology (PCB).

KUSMS is associated with Dhulikhel hospital, which is the university hospital for all the medical programs run under the collaboration with Kathmandu University. With around 300-beds, this hospital provides health services to the people. As a teaching hospital, it also runs a range of world-class academic programs in the field of medicine to produce competent, compassionate and socially responsible graduates who can lead in their respective disciplines.

KUSMS Nepal has physical facilities at two locations: Basic Science building is located at Chaukot in the Panauti area and the University hospital is situated at Dhulikhel. The facilities available in the Basic Science campus include a number of laboratories, lecture halls, library with internet facility, etc. The hospital has with experienced medical professionals to provide clinical knowledge to the students along with training.
