West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University is a great educational, medical, research, diagnostic and cultural center of Kazakhstan’s West region. West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University has its own clinical units such as Medical Centre, Dental Clinic and Family Medicine Clinic which are delivering the tertiary care. The West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University is founded in 1957. Nowadays University actively introduces modern technologies, innovative approaches in the field of medicine and education.Now education is carried out six specialties: “General medicine”, “Dentistry”, “Health Care Management” , “Pharmacy”, “Preventive Medicine” and ” Nursing care”.

West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University is a major educational, therapeutic, research, diagnostic and cultural centre of the western region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There is postgraduate training in four specialties in the master’s programme, 18 specialties in residency as well as two specialties in the doctoral programme, advanced training of physicians and nurses in 29 specialties and primary professional retraining in 22 specialties. The structure of the university consists of faculties, departments, a medical centre, a family clinic, a dental clinic, a scientific and practical centre, a centre of practical skills, a department for teaching and methodical work, a department for administrative staff management, laboratories and other educational and methodical, scientific and auxiliary departments.

The history of the West Kazakhstan State Medical University named after Marat Ospanov began in 1957, when the order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR opened the Aktobe State Medical Institute on September 1 with the specialty “Medical Work”, designed to provide qualified medical personnel to Western and North-Western Kazakhstan.
