Gandaki Medical College, Nepal

Gandaki Medical College Teaching Hospital and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. (GMCTHRC), Pokhara was established in 2007 A.D with the aim of imparting quality medical education to the students from different parts of the world. Presently, GMCTHRC is conducting MBBS, BDS,BSc. Nursing, BSc. MIT, BSc. MLT and BPH Program with the affiliation of TU-Institute of Medicine (IOM)

GMC is located at Pokhara. Hospital and other academic buildings will be constructed in an area of about 200 Ropani (1 Ropani = 5625 square feet thus 11,25,000 square feet ) of land. These land are in less than 3 pieces and are less than 10 km apart.

Charak Hospital and Research Centre Pvt. Ltd is the city hospital of GMC and is located in the heart of Pokhara city.MBBS and Bsc Nursing are the focal courses for this institute. Other planned courses are BDS, BSc Pharmacy, BSc Lab Technology etc.The total fixed assets investment of the project is estimated at Rs.164 crores and working capital at appx Rs. 12 crores. Estimated long-term loan is Rs. 90 crores to finance 55% of fixed assets. Promoter’s equity to finance fixed asset will be Rs. 60 crores. NRs. 14 crores will be covered by reserve and surplus funds of the project. The gestation period for term loan will be one year and will be repaid in ninth year by 2017. The accumulated interest will be paid at the start of each year from the first year of borrowing.

GMC proposes a total of 750 teaching beds in its hospitals. Providing excellent healthcare.  Charak Hospital and Research Centre Pvt. Ltd. with 300 bed capacity located in Prithivi Chowk, Ward no. 9 of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City is owned and managed by GMC as its general city hospital.

GMC will have another 450 bedded multi specialty, state of the herart hospital at Lekhnath Municipality-2, which is about 9 km from Pokhara city.GMC aims to be a centre of excellence in health education, service and research.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) are the focal courses for the institute. Other planned courses are Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS), Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B Pharma), Bachelor of Science in Medical Lab Technology (BMLT), Bachelor of Nursing (BN) etc.

The primary concern of GMC is to develop through education and training, compassionate, professionally excellent, ethically sound individuals who will go out as social and professional leaders in the delivery of promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative aspects of health care as well as in education and in research.

The college is affiliated with the internationally renowned Tribhuvan University (TU), Institute of Medicine (IOM) Kathmandu, Nepal for the MBBS Course from the year 2010. The curriculum of IOM is followed by GMC.
