Medical University of Sofia Faculty of Medicine, Bulgaria

The Medical University, Sofia  is a university in Sofia, Bulgaria which was founded in 1917.It is the oldest institution for higher medical education in Bulgaria.The first lecture at the MoF was held on April 10, 1918. the official opening is attended by the Minister of Education and members of the Supreme Medical Council.

The Medical University is one of the largest and most authoritative healing, educational and scientific centers of Bulgarian and European medical science. The longstanding traditions of the Medical University and its professors and students lead him to the place he deserves among European medical universities. Faculty of Medicine,Faculty of Dental Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Public Health.

General medicine program is available in English and in Bulgarian.  The admission is based on application file selection (academic and professional achievements) and test in Biology and Chemistry.

Sofia Medical University program for international students is a 6-year English medical program designed for international students with a good level of English.

The program of medicine in English leads to professional qualification of Physician or Doctor of Medicine (MD), and awarding of a Master’s Degree with full privileges to practice worldwide as results of fulfilment of academic program requirements of 10 semesters, a year-long internship and successfully passing the state exams.The Medical Degree and license of Medical University of Sofia are recognized in all European Union (EU/EEA) member states and beyond.

The Medical University is composed of 4 faculties, 1 department, 1 college, 1 affiliate branch and 14 university hospitals. As in most Western European countries and the United States, it consists of 2 main structures – Pre-clinical Base and Clinical Base. It currently employs 1969 lecturers and research associates.

The Central Medical Library has more than half a million books and periodicals, offering electronic access to full-text databases, multimedia products and an Internet room. There are specialized libraries with reading rooms in the faculties of dentistry and pharmacy. Students have at their disposal 6 additional room libraries, computer halls, 30 labs and 60 study rooms.
