Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy, Ukrain

The Higher State Educational Institution of Ukraine “Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy” is one of the oldest leading educational institutions in Ukraine, whose history originates from the odontological faculty established at the Kharkiv Medical Academy in 1921. The faculty became the first academic specialized institution of higher education for the training of doctors- dentists In 1931 the faculty was reorganized into the Kharkiv Dental Institute, which in 1967 was transferred to the city of Poltava.

In 1994, by the decision of the Interdepartmental Accreditation Commission and the order of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, a higher educational institution is accredited with the highest IV accreditation level.

There are 53 departments in the academy, among which 12 are graduates. According to the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine 11 departments of the academy were granted the status of supporting institutions. Clinical preparation of students, interns and students of the educational and scientific institute of postgraduate education is conducted at 38 clinical departments located on the medical bases of the Poltava region.

There are 92 Doctors of Science, 386 PhDs; persons who have the academic rank of professor – 84, the academic rank of associate professor – 217. Among the scientific and pedagogical staff – 2 laureates of the State Award, 6 honored doctors of Ukraine, 6 honored scientists and technicians of Ukraine, 1 Honored Worker of Public Health of Ukraine, 1 Honored innovator of Ukraine.

more than 5000 students study at the academy, of which 4902 students are enrolled in full-time study, including 1248 – foreign citizens from more than 50 countries of the worl. In 2016, the Academy successfully passed the supervisory audit of the certification system of quality management.

The academy has created a material and technical base that meets the requirements of training specialists at the appropriate level. The Academy has a balance of 5 educational buildings, a sports and recreation complex, a dining room, a household building, a vivarium, and a hangar. Students of the Academy live in 4 hostels. The provision of housing to students is 100% of the number of nonresident students. In the summer, there is a sports and health camp for students, staff and teachers at the academy.

In 2016 the academy celebrated its 95th anniversary. The modern period of the history of the Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy is the years of its international recognition. The campus occupies sixteen buildings, including five academic buildings, four dormitories, household enclosures, a vivarium, hangars, a library, reading rooms, sports complex, dining room, cafe, and health and sports camp.
