Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad a private university located in Arad, Romania.The Vasile Goldiș Western University was founded in 1990 with only two faculties at the time: Law and Marketing, Management and Computer Sciences. Subsequently, to the development of the university new faculties appeared completing the initial two. So in 1991 appeared the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Medicine in 1992, and the Faculty of Physical Training and Sport in 1993. Nowadays the University has branches in Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Zalău, Deva, Marghita, Bistrița, Alba Iulia.

In 2016, the University had an approximate number of 6,000 students,enrolled in the classic 3 level programs of undergraduate (180, 240, 300, 360 ECTS credits), master (90, 120 ECTS credits) and doctoral degrees.The University is a signatory of the 1999 Bologna Process Charter.

The University is organized in 6 faculties and 2 departments incorporated into the faculty structure. Auxiliary to the academic structure, the university developed a system of supporting structures for research and innovation.

“Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad is a member of the European University Association – (EUA), Magna Charta Observatory, Danube Rectors’ Conference (DRC), European Academy of Sciences and Arts from Salzburg, European Consortium “Carolus Magnus”, Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), Association of Carpathian Region Universities (ACRU), International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) and it holds the vice presidency of the Federation for EDucation in Europe (FEDE).

Established in 1990, “Tudor Arghezi” Library of „Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad constitutes a system that includes a central unit and 19 specialized units (libraries from faculties, departments, studies and research centers, as well as University subsidiaries’ libraries) forms the documentary basis necessary to the academic community through a free access to a wide variety of information resources: over 528,000 volumes (98,000 titles), 77 subscriptions for specialized national and international periodicals, 5 databases (LEGISplus, web of science (Thomson Reuters), science direct, springerLink, CEEOL) archive with students’, MA and PhD students’ graduation works and an archive for periodicals.
