Xinjiang Medical University is located in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the beautiful scenery of the carp under the mountain, is a glorious tradition of higher medical institutions, its predecessor, Xinjiang Medical College was founded in 1954, built in 1956 enrollment. Xinjiang Medical College, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and other central leaders of the cordial care and support, Chairman Mao Zedong personally decided to Xinjiang medical school construction into the “five plan” 156 key projects.

June 1998 Xinjiang Medical College and Xinjiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine merged to set up Xinjiang Medical University, Comrade Jiang Zemin wrote the school name. August 26, 2016, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People’s Government, the State Health Commission, Ministry of Education jointly issued “on the construction of Xinjiang Medical University,” the views of our school officially became the ministries and commissions to build colleges and universities.
At present, the school set up a total of 23 undergraduate majors, two specialist, which contains six national characteristics of professional, there are two national experimental teaching demonstration center; 4 autonomous regions focus on professional (including two specialty brands and two innovations Professional education demonstration center; 5 autonomous regional teaching team; 1 national talent training model innovation experimental area; 2 national boutique video open course, a national fine course, 19 Autonomous region level courses; 1 national bilingual teaching demonstration courses; 2 autonomous region level ideological and political key courses.
As an internationally well-known centre of medical excellence, Xinjiang is the site of many middle-east countries first choice of medical study. Our international students are crucial to our continuous success and development; our understanding of this element, alongside our dedicated staff, we have been able to forge some strong research links throughout the world. There are more than 600 students from some 25 countries which mostly from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Kazakhstan, Russia, U.K, U.S, Korea and Japan, we are very proud. And we still have strong desire to attract the world’s greatest mind to our Univesity.
